Laksitha is a product engineering leader, solution architect and builder who has spent nearly two decades shipping software that works in the real world, across financial services, government and fast-growth technology.

He is currently Head of Engineering at Tide, a $1.5B fintech platform serving 1.6M small businesses across four countries, where he leads engineering teams building scalable, AI-powered products. His career includes engineering leadership roles at Sky, the UK Home Office, RBS and Vanguard, and he has built and scaled high-performing teams across all of them.

His current focus is Agentic and Generative AI: building intelligent agents, applying AI-driven workflows to legacy systems, and finding practical ways to reduce the cognitive load on developers so they can do their best work. He holds an MSc in Advanced Computing Technologies from Birkbeck, University of London, with a thesis on hybrid text summarisation using BERT and GPT-2, research that was ahead of its time and increasingly relevant now.

Laksitha’s perspective on engineering is shaped by a single belief: readable, modular, verifiable code, built by empowered people who understand why they’re building it, beats over-engineered perfection every time. He co-founded UserGenix to share what that looks like in practice.
